Olwë
Born V.Y.t. 1050 at the shores of Cuiviénien. Died ?. Did not leave Aman.
Teleri-Prince of Alqualondë.
Father to Earwen.
Valian Years of the Trees.
V.Y.t.1085. Upon one of his rides Oromë`s horse Nahar came upon a strange scent and stood still setting up a great neighing and Oromë heard from afar the sound of singing voices and thus he found the Elves and befriended them.
V.Y.t 1102 The three Elf-lords Finwë, Elwë and Ingwë were brought to Valinor as ambassadours to see the glory and light of the blessed realm.
V.Y.t.1104. Brougt back to Cuiviénien. The three Lords councelled their people to journey to Aman and were chosen among their respectively people to be Kings but the Teleri chose two because their were the most numerous people and Olwë was chosen as their Lord too.
V.Y.t 1105. Preparering of the march
V.Y.t 1105 - 1132. March of the Elves under the guidance of Oromë towards the West.
V.Y.t.1115. This year the trail came through a great forest ( the later known Mirkwood ) and came to a wide and broad river ( Anduin ) For long the Teleri abode upon the East-brinks of that river but the Noldor and Vanyar wished to continue and Oromë led them up towards the passes of Hithaeglir but now Oromë was gone the Teleri became frightened of the tall, shadowy and terrible mountains and Lenwë forsook the march and led away a numerous folk and went south down towards Ered Nimrais and became known as the Nandor-Elves.
V.Y.t.1115 -1128. the remaining Teleri, unwilling but urged by Elwë and Olwë their Kings who was eager to see /return to Aman, crossed Hithaeglir, Eriador and Ered Luin and came to Ossiriand.
V.Y.t.1130. Elwë was lost in the woods of Nan-Elmoth but Olwë remained with his kindred in the East of Beleriand.
V.Y.t.1132. The front of the trail of the Elves arrived in Beleriand at the shores of the sea, Ulmo uprooted the Isle of Balar in the Bay of Balar with aid of his servants, moved it to the shores and the Vanyar and Noldor embarked upon it and then they were drawn across Belegaer to Aman. But the Teleri and Olwë still in the East of Beleriand did not hear the summons of Ulmo and they would not have left Middle-Earth without Elwë. Yet when they heard the Noldor and Vanyar had left they pressed on to the shores and there dwelt in longing for their friends. And Ossë and Uinen came to the Bay of Balar, befriended them and taught them sea-lore and sea-music.
V.Y.t.1149-1150. Ulmo returned to the shores of Middle-Earth at the prayer of Finwë to bring the Teleri to Aman if they would come and Olwë indeed would go but others were persuaded by Ossë and Uinen to stay and they became the Falas-Elves or as they called themselves the Eglath, the Forsaken People and their Lord was Cirdan. But Ulmo took Olwë and his followers upon Tol-Eressëa and drew them across Belegaer.
V.Y.t.1151. This year Olwë and the Teleri upon Tol-Eressëa heard the voice of their friend Ossë who called upon them and they begged Ulmo to stop the voyage and Ulmo granted this and at his bidding Ossë rooted the island to the foundation of the sea in the Bay of Eldamar.
V.Y.t.1161. Now the Teleri had dwelt ten years in sight of the light that flowed from Calacirya and they were drawn towards it. Therefore Ossë taught them the craft of ship-building and brought them as a parting gift strong-winged swans and the the swans drew their white ships across the shadowy windless sea and at last they came to the shores of Aman.
V.Y.t.1162. Olwë with the aid of the Noldor and Finwë began the building of Alqualondë upon the coast of Aman North of Calacirya.
V.Y.t.1162-1495.Olwë and his people the Teleri lived outside the Pelori at the shores of the Shadowy Seas in their city of pearls and rarely if ever did they come to Valmar for they recked little of seasons or times and gave no thought to cares of the rulers of Arda or to the shadow that fell upon Valinor in the later years, for it had not touched them and they were content minding their own business between the light of the two Trees Telperion and Laurelin and the light of the stars. Little did Melkor heed the Teleri and little did they care.
V.Y.t.1495. Yet of the cruel deeds of Melkor they came to suffer, for when the Trees were gone and the chill winds and the wast shadows of the sea rolled in against the shores, one day Fëanor with a great host came to Alqualondë and asked Olwë for their white ships for the shipping of the host to Middle-Earth and Fëanor spoke in same manner as he had did in Tirion but Olwë and the Teleri was unmoved for they had ever denied Melkor their ears and entrance in their land and they were grieved at the going of their kin and would rather dissuade them and no ship would they lend them and neither aid them against the will of the Valar. Then Fëanor spoke harsh and unfriendly words and in anger and dark thoughts he left Alqualondë but he returned in might and armour and thus befell the First Kinslaying.
