The great ravine with sides unscaleable and very deep where Tuor game after passing the Annon-in-Gelydh and the undeground curse upon his journey from Lake Mithrim to Vinyamar before he reached the sea. It was named so because the water of the river from the mountains foamed among many boulders or fell over falls and the uprising Sun behind him created rainbows across the ravine. Cirith Ninniach broke in between, as a gulf, the Southern end of Ered Lomin. and the hills and mountains of Ered Wethrin in the North-West of Dor-Lomin. The water of Cirith Ninniach ran into the Firth of Drengist.
