Ered Nimrais.
The White Mountains.
The Mountain-range in Gondor in Middle-earth, ranging from, in the east, Mount Mindolluin where upon its knee was built Minas Tirith near the river Anduin, to the west and the Cape of Andrast with Ras Morthil .
Ered Nimrais had outliers in nearly every promontory of Gondor; Lossarnach, Anfalas, Lamendon, Belfalas, Lebennin, Anórien and Calenardhon save Ithilien and South-Gondor.
The known peaks of Ered Nimrais are Dwimorberg, Írensaga, Starkhorn, Thrihyrne and Mount Mindolluin. At the northern side of Ered Nimrais runs the trail of the Great West Road through Westfold and Eastfold of Calenardhon, Firien-Wood, Drúadan-Forest, the Grey-Wood and the Seven Beacons of Anórien.
From the heights of Ered Nimrais falls the streams of Snowbourne, the Deeping Stream, the Mering Stream from the Firien Dale, river Erui, Sirith and Celos, Serni, Gilraen, Ringló and Ciril, Morthond, Lefnui and Adorn.
On the eastern side of Ered Nimrais was the stronghold of Helms Deep and Firien-field at Dunharrow in Harrowdale, the long and scary Path of the Dead from Dimholt and the Haunted Mountain, Dwimorberg, to Blackroot vale and the Stone of Erech near Tarlangs Neck at the southern side of the mountains.
In the west stretched a huge spur out towards the north and made, in conjunction with the southern spurs of
Hithaeglir, the Gap of Rohan but the spur itself was
called the Cap of Rohan
