Ulmo.

Linqil.

Ulmo is in might second after Manwë and he lives alone in his halls called Ulmonan and he is Lord of all water in Arda, He went to the Outermost Oceans named Vai beyond the Outer Lands and in those deep waters moweless and empty he purposed to dwell. Yet ever of his magic deep in the sea-halls of Ulmonan he controlled the faint stirring of the seas and ruled the lakes and springs and rivers of the world. He never stays at one place but travels as he please in the deepth of the endless seas. He does not like to walk upon land and he seldom clothe himself in the raiment of earth. He was close to Manwë but after the fall of Almaren he is a rarely guest in the Ring of Doom unless great matters is to be disqused. Ulmo is fearsome to look at for human eyes, he is dressed like a giant vave in glittering dark green armor with a crown of foam, roaring in his horn, Ulumuri, against the shore. Still Ulmo loves Human and Elves and they love him, once you have heard the music of the sea, it will live in your heart forever. At times he will come unseen to the shores of Middle-earth or pass far inland up firths of the sea and there make great music upon his horns. He speaks to those who listen with voices that are heard as music of water for all seas, lakes, rivers,fountains and springs are in his goverment and the spirit of Ulmo runs in all the veins of the world.

Valian Years ( V.Y.) 0 - 3450.

V.Y 0 - 1500. Uncounted years filled with labouring had gone by in the timeless ages before the Gods decented into the world in year 0. But Melkor contested the overlordship of Manwë and strife were in the world. Manwë summoned help and among those who heard was Tulkas and he came to the aid. Before his face Melkor fleed out into Eä.

V.Y.1500 - 1900. Now the gods planned and schemed and ordered and for all the seeds Yavanna had planted Aulë made two great lamps Ormal and Illuin to lit the earth and these were set in 1900 upon Helkar and Ringil.

V.Y. 1900 - 3450. Now began the Spring of Arda, the Gods settlet at Almaren and the world came to life, threes and beasts swollened the earth but Melkor saw it from the outside of the Wall of Things and grew hot and he heard it from his spies ( Sauron the chiefest of them ) already among the Gods. Manwë had called for a great feast and while the Gods were afterwards resting Melkor crept over the Wall and entered Arda in the North and assailed the Lamps and overtrew them and the blossom of the earth was checked.

But Ulmo did not live at Almaren, he has always been living alone in the depth of the sea from the beginning of time and neither did he move to Valinor but remained in his halls and seldom came to the councils of the Valar unless great matters were in debate.

V.Y.3450 - V.Y.3500. The Gods departed to Aman where Aulë deemed the plains of Valinor a good place to build their new home. A great labour now began for the Gods.

Now began the Valian Years of the Trees. ( V.Y.t ) and a new reckoning of time.

In the V.Y.t 0 came the two trees Silpion and Laurelin into being and in the delicious light upon Valinor Aulë began many new tasks.

V.Y.t 0 - 1000 This was the Noontide of Valinor though Middle-earth was still in darkness and only Oromë and Yavanna came there at times and the stewardship of Middle-earth was partly neglected and Melkor ruled there with violence. At the prayer of Yavanna to the council of the gods, Manwë took counsil in his heart and with Iluvathar and summoned the gods and declared to them his thoughts and the gods decided to capture Melkor. In this counsil Ulmo was against bringing the Elves to Aman, he thought it better for them to stay in Middle-Earth.

V.Y.t1092 - 1100 The gods went to war and made Melkor captive and brought him to Valinor where he was doomed before the feet of Manwë to serve 3 ages in the fastness of Mandos.

V.Y.t 1115 - 1125 March of the Elves under the guidance of Oromë towards the West.

V.Y.t 1125 - 1132. The trail of the Elves arrived in Beleriand, Ulmo uprooted ( most of it ) the island Isle of Balar in the Bay of Balar with the aid of his servants which includes Ossë and Uinen, moved it to the shores and the Vanyar and Noldor embarked upon it and were then drawn across Belegaer to Aman.

V.Y.t.1133. The first host of Elves arrive in Aman

V.Y.t 1149 - 1151. At the prayer of the Noldor and Vanyar Ulmo returned to the shores of Middle-Earth to bring the Teleri across the sea if they were willing ( he might have been forced to move the isle/ferry back from Aman, nothing is told of this. ) Most of the Teleri now embarked upon the ferry but as they drew near the coasts of Aman and came to the Bay of Eldamar they begged Ulmo to stay there voyage and he granted them their wish and anchored the isle and at his bidding Ossë rooted it to the foundation of the sea and it became afterwards known as Tol-Eressëa.

V.Y.t 1400 Melkor sued for pardon and was released but should stay in Valinor

V.Y.t 1400 - 1496. The Shadow began to grow in Valinor because of Melkor`s lies and in 1490 the truth was discovered at a council. Melkor hid in Arvelin in 1492 gathering strength and plotting evil.

V.Y.t 1495 Manwë sought to heal the evil that had arisen in Valinor and he declared a great feast but during the feast Melkor returned with Ungoliant, killed Finwë and destroyed the two Trees. Then he escaped to Middle-earth.

V.Y.t 1496 Departure of the Elves from Valinor.

V.Y.t 1496 - 1500. These years between the killing of the Trees and the rise of the Sun and Moon were the Years of Darkness or the Years of the Darkening of Valinor. Long it has been said the Valar sat in silent thoughts, holding counsel with each other by the pover of minds in the Ring of Doom. Yavanna and Nienna put forth all their povers of healing and by the uttermost of their strength and pover Telperion and Laurelin bore each one a single fruit which became the Sun and Moon.

First Age.

The First age are counted from the rising of the Sun, this happened at the very same time as Fingolfin and his host arrived in Mithrim after the crossing of the Grinding ice.

Ulmo sat in the heart of Turgon a wish of a secret place and he guided him to the plain of Tumladen where he builded the city Gondolin, his old castle Vinyamar was abandon but at the bidding of Ulmo was set a suit of a warrior upon the wall that in time Turgon could recognize a messenger from Ulmo.

F.A.532. Ulmo liftet Elwing, and the Nauglamír with the Silmaril, out of the water and gave her the likeness of a great white bird. Thus by his intervention was one of the great jewels returned to Aman.
