Oromë is a mighty prince, with a terribel wrath but he is not as strong as Tulkas. Oromë loved the lands of Earth while they were still dark and he left them unwillingly and came last to Valinor and he comes even yet at times East of the Pelóri. Of old he was often seen upon the the hills and plains. He is the hunter of monsters and evil beings and he cares for horses and dogs and he loves the woods and the trees. His horse is Nahar, it is white in the day and silver at night and when Oromë blow his horn, Valaroma, Melkor`s creatures will flee infront of his army but he blows it not upon Earth anymore since the fading of the Elves, whom he loved and from whom he was given his belt of emeralds. Oromës wife is Vána. His sister is Nessa. In Rohirrim tales Oromë is called Bema. Oromë had wast domains South of Valmar; the Woods of Oromë and in Valmar he had his Halls of Oromë.

the name Araw, hunter of the Valar, is seen in the gondorian language and tales where it appears with the legends of the stewards and with Boromir and his Horn. According to the tales this horn where made of a horn of the wild white oxes, still living in the T.A., near the Sea of Rhûn in Rhûn.

Valian Years ( V.Y.) 0 - 3450.

V.Y. 0 - 1500. Uncounted years filled with labouring had gone by in the timeless ages before the Gods decented into the world in year 0. But Melkor contested the overlordship of Manwë and strife were in the world. Manwë summoned help and among those who heard was Tulkas and he came to the aid. Before his face Melkor fleed out into Eä.

V.Y.1500 - 1900. Now Yavanna planted the seeds she had prepared for so long, the Gods settlet at Almaren and the world came to life. But the seeds needed light to grow and Yavanna went to Aulë her husbond and at her prayer he wrought two great lamps Ormal and Illuin to lit the earth and these were set in 1900 upon Helkar and Ringil. Trees and beasts swollened the earth and the Spring of Arda began.

V.Y. 1900 - 3450. but Melkor saw it from the outside of the Wall of Things and grew hot and he heard it from his spies ( Sauron the chiefest of them ) already among the Gods. Melkor called to him spirits and crept over the Wall of Things and entered Arda in the North and assailed the Lamps and overtrew them and the blossom of the earth was checked.

V.Y. 3450 - V.Y. 3500 The Gods departed to Aman where Aulë deemed the plains of Valinor a good place to build their new home. A great labour now began for the Gods. When Valinor was fullwrought and the mansions of the gods were established Yavanna and Nienna brought forth in the V.Y 3500 the two trees Silpion and Laurelin into being.

Now began the Valian Years of the Trees. ( V.Y.t ) and a new reckoning of time.

V.Y.t 0 - 1000 This was the Noontide of Valinor though Middle-earth was still in darkness and only Oromë and Yavanna came there at times and the stewardship of Middle-earth was partly neglected and Melkor ruled there with violence save the times where Oromë hunted there. Oromë the tamer of beasts would ride in the darkness of the unlit forest as a mighty hunter with spear and bow pursuing to death the monsters and fell creatures of Melkor blowing in his great horn Valaróma.

V.Y.t. 1085 Upon one of his rides Oromë`s horse Nahar came upon a strange scent and stood still setting up a great neighing and Oromë heard from afar the sound of singing voices and thus he found the Elves and befriended them.

V.Y.t. 1090 - 1092 For the sake of the Elves Manwë took council in his heart and with Iluvathar and summoned the gods and declared to them his thoughts and the gods decided to capture Melkor.

V.Y.t 1092 - 1100 The gods went to war and made Melkor captive and brought him to Valinor where he was doomed before the feet of Manwë to serve 3 ages in the fastness of Mandos.

V.Y.t 1102 The three Elf-lords were brought to Valinor. and brougt back in 1104.

V.Y.t 1115 - 1125 March of the Elves under the guidance of Oromë towards the West.

First Age.

The First age are counted from the rising of the Sun, this happened at the very same time as Fingolfin and his host arrived in Mithrim after the crossing of the Grinding ice.

( From the earliest tales.) At the hiding of Valinor upon which Manwë saw with sorrow he bidded Lórien and Oromë to device a way the Valar, the Elves and human spirits in safety and secrecy could come to the blessed land and Lórien deviced Olórë Malle and Oromë Ilwerin.; the Bridge of the Heavens.
