Son of Glóin I.

T.A.3019. ( 15/01 ) The Fellowship found the Book of Mazarbul in the Chamber of Silence this year. It was bloodstained and had been slashed and stabbed and partly burned and hardly readable. Gandalf gave the book to Gimli for him to hand it to the heir of Balin, Dáin Ironfoot. If it really was brought out of Moria I am not sure of. Maybe it was forgotten there as the Orcs attacked and the fellowship had to fight and run. If it was not brought with the Fellowship it may have been utterly destroyed. If not so the later re-occupation of Moria by Durin VII may have found it again.

T.A.3019. ( 16/02 ) Gimli recieves three hairs of Galadriel as a parting gift. Tales say that Fëanor in the Valian Year of the Trees 1449 was inspired to create the Silmarils by the golden radiance of Galadriel`s hair and that he asked her for a tress of it but she denied and refused him. In the light of this the gift Gimli asked and was granted was not a small gesture but an honor beyond hope of even the greatest.
