Thorin was born in Erebor as the older brother to Frerin and Dís. He was 24 years old at the sack of Erebor and the Lonely Mountain in 2770 and 53 at the battle of Nanduhirion which took place in the year 2799.
Thorin was wearing a sky-blue hood with a silver wisp and played the harp and liked redwine.
3 Age.
T.A.2770. When Smaug descended upon the realm of Erebor Thorin II, his brother and sister, father and grandfather Thrór escaped. There is no tales telling what happened from 2770 to 2790 but we may assume that they went to Ered Mithrin where others of their people lived and that some of the refugees went to Grór in the Iron Hills.
T.A.2770-2790. During the years in Ered Mithrim the desire and yearning in the heart of Thrór, Thorin`s grandfather, grew to see and eventually re-establish the old kingdom of the Dwarves in Moria and at last Thrór set out with one companion; Nár. But Nár returned alone and told of the killing of Thrór by Azog and his Orcs in Moria and Hithaeglir.
T.A.2790-2793. Thorin and his father Thráin II. gathered the scattered Dwarves during these years. ( Dáin II, Náin and the Dwarves from Ered Mithrin ) and prepared for war upon Azog and the Orcs in Hithaeglir
T.A.2793-2799. Not much knowledge has reached us of the war to the final battle but it was a cruel and viscious war mostly fought in deep caves and dark tunnels but though the Dwarves were lesser in count their hot anger and fury drove the Orcs on retreat and many an Orcish dwelling were ruined and destroyed in these years and the surviving Orcs fled to Moria.
T.A.2799. The Battle of Nanduhirion. In that battle earned Thorin his nickname Oakenshield. The Dwarves were victorious but to diminished to dare enter and settle in Moria. Dáin II returned to the Iron Hills and Thorin and his father Thráin wanders into the west
T.A.2802. Thorin and Thráin settles in Ered Luin.
T.A.2941. Thorin II sets out for revenge upon Smaug, with him went Bilbo Baggins and twelve other Dwarves. From Gandalf he received the map and the key his grandfather Thrór had made. After they were saved from Bert, Bill and William he found Orcrist in the trolls cave but this was taken from him by Thranduil in Mirkwood when he was imprisoned there later.
After the death of Smaug in the last battle Thorin and the Dwarves performed a sortie from the mountain and Thorin went straight for Bolg but the enemy was too strong and he was surrounded. There was Thorin sorely wounded by a spear but Fíli and Kíli defended him with their shields and bodies and they were slain. Yet Thorin lived long enough to see the end of the battle before he died. Upon his grave placed Thranduil Orcrist and Bard the Arkenstone. Among the treasure That was found in the Lonely Mountain was the Cup of Thrór, the Necklace of Girion and the Elven Chainmail Bilbo was given.
