Born in Aman ( V.Y.t. ?.) Died in F.A.507.
Brother to Maedhros, Maglor, Celegorm, Caranthir, Amrod and Amras.
Valian Years of the Trees.
V.Y.t. Not much is said of Curufin or his brothers before the terrible oath they swore upon Tuna in the High Court of the King in Tirion and their betrayal of Fingolfin leaving him and his host stranded near Helcaraxë.
V.Y.t.1179-1185. Between these years it seems Fëanor wedded Nerdanel. This place the birth of their sons after these years but before 1490 which was the year Fëanor moved to Formenos where also, as it is stated, his sons and father came to live.
V.Y.t 1496. Curufin, his brothers and father, left Aman.
With his brother Celegorm Curufin made his abode in the land of Himlad and they held the land and the Pass of Aglon with strong forces and many horsed archers.
F.A.455. In this fell year Morgoth broke the peace of Beleriand there came a great army against the March of Maedhros and the Sons of Fëanor was overwelmed. Maedhros and Maglor held out upon the hill of Himring and the fortress could not be taken but the Orcs broke through the Pass of Aglon and between Gelion and Celon and Celegorm and Curufin fled into the South along the Northern borders of Doriath. As Curufin and Celegorm came to Dimbar and the Narrow Land they learned that Orodreth was under beleaguering and with as many as they could gather of their riders and other forces they came to his aid. They fought fiercely and stemmed the tide for a while allowing Orodreth to escape before the might of Sauron. Then Celegorm and Curufin fled with small following and came at length to Nargothrond.
F.A.465. Beren came to Nargothrond from Doriath to seek Finrod`s aid upon his quest for a Silmaril. When Finrod would fulfill his oath to Beren, Curufin and Celegorm tried to hinder the the aid for their oath was roused from slumber. Fell words were spoken by Celegorm, and after him, Curufin spoke more softly but with no less power and they set in the minds and hearts of people a great fear of war and ruin of Nargothrond. They turned the hearts from Finrod and withheld the their aid of him.
Later that year came Celegorm and his brother Curufin upon Lúthien and took her to Nargothrond. And evil entered their hearts and they desired to seize the Kingship of Nargothrond and wed Lúthien to Celegorm and compel Thingol to alliance, and so make the sons of Fëanor the greatest house of the Noldor again. But Lúthien escaped with the aid of Húan. When tidings of Finrod`s death reached Nargothrond Curufin and Celegorm was driven out of Nargothrond by Orodreth. But upon their way to find their kindred in the east they came upon Beren and Lúthien returning from Tol-in-Gaurhoth to Doriath. Celegorm unsuccessful tried to ride Beren down while Curufin lifted Lúthien to his saddle. Beren jumped upon Curufin´s horse and threw him to the grown. Now Húan finally forsook the service of Celegorm for he sprang upon Celegorm who were attacking Beren with a spear. Celegorm`s horse turned aside in fear of Húan and would not approach Beren. Beren took from Curufin his horse and weapons and the knife Angrist and then bade him walk away and Celegorm took his brother stripped of weapon besides him and rode away but as they rode Curufin took Celegorm's bow and shot two darts back at Lúthien. The first caught Húan in his mouth and the second smote Beren in his breast. Chased by Húan Curufin and Celegorm fled in fear to their brothers in the East.
F.A.466. This year they learned that Thingol had received a Silmaril from Beren and Lúthien they sent harsh and threatening words to Thingol claiming the Silmaril but Thingol would not surrender it and Curufin and Celegorm vowed that they would destroy his realm and his people.
F.A.468. Maedhros began the Union of Maedhros; it seemed for many that Morgoth was not unconquerable because of the deeds of Beren and Luthien. Maedhros gathered all his brethren and all the folk that would follow them. Fingon prepared for war, the people of Brethil whetted their axes and also Turgon in hidden Gondolin in secret prepared for battle.
F.A.472. At midsummer was all ready and the army of the Union arrayed in the east and west. Fingons army was stationed in the hills of Ered Wethrin from Eithel Sirion to the Fen of Serech and Turgons host held the passes of Sirion while Maglor and his brothers, the Dwarves and the Swarthy Men was in the East. But treachery prevented the victory of the Elves. Curufin and his brothers were all wounded but escaped the field towards Mount Dolmed.
F.A 507. Curufin was slain by Dior at the East marches of Doriath during the Second Kinslaying.
