Orodreth

Son of Finarfin and Ëarwen.

Born in Valinor between V.Y.t. 1300 and 1362. Died in F.A.495.

Brother to Finrod, Angrod, Aegnor and Galadriel.

Father to Finduilas of Nargothrond and Haldir.

Wife unknown.

Valian Years of the Trees.

Orodreth were the second son of Finarfin and Ëarwen and thus the younger brother to Finrod but older to Angrod, Aegnor and Galadriel.

V.Y.t.1495. When Fëanor came to Tirion and spoke harsh and fell words Finarfin sought to calm the temper of the Noldor and tried to persuade them to ponder before deeds were done that could not be undone and alone of his brothers did Orodreth speak in the same manner.

V.Y.t.1500. Orodreth crossed Helcaraxë with the host of Finarfin. At the arrival to Endor he dwelt with Finrod in the Narrow Land in the tower Minas Tirith upon Tol-Sirion.

1 Age.

F.A.102. Orodreth was assigned as Lord of the tower when Finrod moved to Nargothrond.

F.A.455. In this fell year when Morgoth broke the peace of Beleriand and started the Battle of Sudden Flame he scattered the sons of Fëanor and drove them West and South and when Morgoth learned this pleasant news he send a great force against the Pass of Sirion. Sauron his lieutenant lead the assault and his host broke through and besieged the fortress upon Tol-Sirion and after bitter fighting they took it and Orodreth was driven out and if not for Celegorm and Curufin he would have been slain. But Orodreth escaped to Nargothrond with Curufin, Celegorm and some few men.

F.A.465. When Finrod left Nargothrond with Beren to fulfill his oath Orodreth was given the silver crown of Nargothrond in stewardship but when tidings of Finrod`s death reached Nargothrond he took the Kingship and the crown and drove Celegorm and Curufin out because of there evil deeds and threats against Luthien, Beren and his brother. Orodreth now also was in possession of the Nauglamír.

F.A.468. Maedhros began the Union of Maedhros; it seemed for many that Morgoth was not unconquerable because of the deeds of Beren and Luthien. Maedhros gathered all his brethren and all the folk that would follow them. But Orodreth would not march forth at the word of any son of Fëanor, because of the deeds of Celegorm and Curufin and only a small company, against the will of Orodreth, lead by Gwindor went to the Northern war.

F.A.490-495 During these years dwelt Turin in Nargothrond and became great in counsel and renown and the bridge crossing Narog from the Doors of Finrod to Taleth Dirnen was built.

F.A.495. Arminas and his companion Gelmir returned to Orodreth and brought warnings of a great mustering of evil forces in the Narrow land. and host came into the realm of Nargothrond. Orodreth, Turin and Gwindor gathered their army and went up against the enemy and they met the forces of Morgoth at the plains Tum-Halad but the host of Morgoth was greater than reported and Glaurung was amidst it and the glory of Nargothrond was wiped out and with it was Orodreth slain.
