Second and youngest son of Elendil,

Born in Númenor.S.A. ?. Later than Isildur his older brother who was born in 3209. ( See also Elendili-House.) Died in T.A.3440.

First King of Gondor ruling together with his brother Isildur.

2 Age.

S.A.3319 - 3320. His father prepared in the haven of Romenna nine ships for the flight from Númenor of those were the three for Isildur and two for Anarion. When the rift appeared they were all at sea and a great wind blew them towards Middle-Earth. Isildur and Anarion were carried away from Elendils ships but at length they landed at the shores of Middle-Earth near the Mouth of Anduin in S.A.3319. Here they sailed up the river Anduin to Osgiliath where they establish the kingdom of Gondor in 3320. In Gondor settles Anarion in Osgiliath while Isildur settles in Minas Ithil. Anarion and Isildur place a Palantiri in the Tower of Osgiliath, one at Orthanc and one in Minas Tirith, and the last of the four in the tower of Minas Ithil.

S.A.3429 - 3430. Sauron attacks Gondor and Minas Ithil. He forces Isildur to escape and takes Minas Ithil and burns the White Tree but of some unknown reason he misses the Palantiri. Sauron makes the fortress a stronghole of his. While Isildur escapes to the North and Arnor with his wife and sons by ship and goes to his father in Arnor. Anarion holds valiantly out in Osgiliath under the attack from Sauron upon Gondor.

S.A.3430. Because of the news comming to Arnor with Isildur, Elendil and Gil-Galad takes counsil together and forms the Last Alliance in 3430. The year after they march to Imladris where preparations for the war was made the in the next three years.

S.A. 3434. The host cross Hithaeglir over Cirith forn en Andrath and comes down into the vales of Anduin. Anarion march out from Osgiliath, leaving his son Meneldil in command of Gondor, and goes North through Ithilien and meets his father and brother at Dagorlad were the first battles of the Last Alliance is held. The Alliance is victorious and Sauron withdraws to Barad-Dûr and Minas Ithil is recaptured and the seven years long siege of Mordor is begun.

S.A.3440. Anarion dies before the tower of Barad-Dûr in the siege under the Last Allliance. He is slain by a stone from the stone-casters in the battle during the siege of Barad-Dûr and his oldest son Meneldil rules in Gondor until Isildur as the rightful King can return. Meneldil recieves the throne of Gondor from Isildur.
