Huor was the oldest son of Galdor and Hareth.

F.A.453. This year Huor went for his first time to battle as only 13 years old because none were able to stop him.

F.A.458. Huor dwelt with his brother, as the custom was among northern men, with the people of Haleth and they both went to battle against the Orcs but being with a company that was cut off they were pursued to Brithiach. There a mist arose, for the power of Ulmo was still strong in Sirion, and Hurin and Huor escaped into Dimbar where two eagles, sent by Thorondor, took them and brought them to the secret valley Tumladen and Gondolin. In Gondolin they were welcomed by Turgon, for Ulmo had counseled him to deal kindly with the House of Hador, from where great help should come in time of need. Huor and Hurin learned much of the counsels and purposes of Turgon in that year. But they both desired to return to their kin and share in the wars for they were mortal men and their time was short compared to the Elves. Turgon yielded to their prayers though he was grieved. And as they came they departed, for Thorondor once again, at the asking of Turgon, sent eagles to bring Hurin and Huor to Dor-Lòmin. But before they parted they swore an oath to never reveal the realm of Turgon.

F.A.468. Maedhros began the Union of Maedhros; it seemed for many that Morgoth was not unconquerable because of the deeds of Beren and Luthien. Maedhros gathered all his brethren and all the folk that would follow them. Fingon, his friend, prepared for war, the people of Brethil whetted their axes and also Turgon in hidden Gondolin in secret prepared for battle.

F.A.472. This year Huor wedded Rian, the daughter of Belegund in the early spring. Huor and Rian had been wed for two month when the summons came for the mustering of the host before the Battle of Unnumbered Tears that had long been prepared. At midsummer all was ready and the army of the union arrayed in the East and West. Fingons army with the men of Huor and Hurin from Hithlum was stationed in the hills of Ered Wethrin from Eithel Sirion to the Fen of Serech and Turgons host held the Passes of Sirion while Maedhros and his brothers, the Dwarves and the Swarthy Men was in the East. But treachery prevented the victory of the Elves but the last stand of Huor and Hurin became renowned among the Elves, for they gathered al the remnant of the brave men of Hithlum around them and guarded the retreat of Turgon. But Huor fell pierced in the eye with a venomed arrow.
