Isildur

Born in Númenor Second age 3209 ( See Elendili-House.) Died in Third age 2.

Son of Elendil.

Brother to Anarion.

Wedded to ?.

Father to Elendur, Aratan, Ciryon and Valandil.

Older brother of Anarion.

S.A.3019. His father prepared in the haven of Rómenna nine ships for the flight from Númenor. Of those were the three for Isildur and two for Anarion. When the rift appeared they were all at sea and a great wind blew them towards Middle-earth. Isildur and Anarion were carried away from Elendil`s ships but at length they landed at the shores of Middle-earth near the Mouth of Anduin.

S.A.3020. Here they sail up the river Anduin to Osgiliath where they establish the kingdom of Gondor. Isildur settles in Minas Ithil while Anarion settles in Osgiliath. Isildur became the first king of Gondor together with his brother. At the Hill of Erech near river Morthond in Blackroot-vale Isildur place a man-high black and round stone, the Stone of Erech.

S.A.3320. Isildur plants a White Tree in Minas Ithil brought from Númenor and place a Palantiri in the tower.

S.A.3429. Sauron assails Gondor and Minas Ithil. He forces Isildur to escape and conquers Minas Ithil and burns the White Tree. He keeps the Palantiri and makes the fortress a stronghold of his. Isildur escapes by ship to his father Elendil in Arnor together with his wife and the three, at this time, born sons. He bears with him a seedling of the White Tree in Minas Ithil whitch Sauron had burned.

S.A.3430. Elendil and Gil-galad takes counsel together and forms the Last Alliance.

S.A.3431. This year they march to Imladris where preparations for the war was made during the next 3 years.

S.A.3434. The host with Gil-galad, Elendil, Elrond, Isildur and his sons crosses Hithaeglir over Cirith forn en Andrath and comes down into the vales of Anduin. They cross Anduin and goes south to Dagorlad where the first battles are fought and won and the seven years long siege of Barad Dûr begins. Isildur sends Aratan and Ciryon to Minas Ithil who had been won back to ensure Sauron could not escape that way. With him was, during the whole war save the final battle, his son Elendur.

S.A.3440. Isildur`s brother Anarion is slain.

S.A.3441. Sauron is so hard pressed that he comes forth himself. The final battle takes place at the flanks of Orodruin where Sauron`s One Ring is at its strongest. Isildur was at his fathers side who, with Gil-galad, was slain. But Sauron stumbles and fall and Isildur sliced his finger with the hilt-shard of Elendils broken sword Narsil and cutted the One Ring off and the spirit of Sauron perished and the Second age ends. Isildur and Elendur returns to Gondor where Isildur`s two other sons and Anarion`s son Meneldil awaits them. With him is the One Ring. He plants a seedling of the White Tree in Minas Anor ( The later Minas Tirith.).

T.A.2. Isildur delivers the Kingdom to Meneldil while he decides to return to Arnor which is now his rightful enheritage after his father and in Imladris awaits his wife and newborn child Valandil his arrival. Isildur and his sons and Elrond, Othar and Estelmo sets out north with an escort of 200 warriors. As they came to Gladden Fields on the eastside of Anduin they were ambushed by a hoard of Orcs from Mirkwood and Isildur perish in Anduin with the One Ring.
