White Tree

The last of the White Trees ( generally known as Minas Tirith`s second White Tree) Minas Tirith`s second and last white Tree died in the Citadel of Minas Tirith when Steward Belecthor II died in Third age year 2872 but was left standing. It was thus the last (known) of the long line of White Trees coming from the image ,Galathilion in Tirion, of Telperion that Yavanna made for the Elves in Aman.

3 Age.

T.A.1640. A seedling of the first white tree was saved and planted in the in the Citadel of Minas Tirith by king Tarondor when he removes the Kings House from Osgiliath to Minas Tirith. In the later times the tree did not thrive and withered.

T.A.2872. After a long life the tree died but was left standing as no seedling could be found.

The young White Tree Gandalf and Aragorn II found in the hollow upon Mount Mindolluin is not proven to be from the last tree of Minas Tirith.
