The southern coastline of Aman. When Melkor overthrew the lamps Illuin and Ormal the Valar passed over the sundering sea, the Belegaer, and came to Avathar and Aman where they found a wide plain suitable for their new dwelling. Avathar is by reason of their great masonry; collecting stones and rocks for the Pelóri, Taniquetil and their halls and towers, now very broad and bare, a lightless and unexplored area stretching south.
