Hither Lands.

The Hither Lands were the land-masses below Khand and Mordor, a collective term of Near and Far Harad, the Haradwaith and Umbar and the huge land stretching far down equator of the world between Belegaer and the Inner Sea.

The northern area of the Hither Lands are often called Haradwaith, the Southlands. But the whole continent would in general terms be called the Hither Lands. These lands are unknown lands and not much is known of it save that in the west of this area ran the Grey Mountains from the Bay of Umbar about 1200 miles further south along the coast of Belegaer and that in the east did the waves of the Inner Sea wash the shores.

Around the cap of the Hither Lands the Númenorians in the Second age sailed their ships into the Inner Sea and the East Sea and watched the Sun rise from the Gates of Morning behind the Wall of the Sun.
