Murmenalda.

Slumbrous Vale.

Vale of Sleep.

( From the earliest tales.)

In Hildórien lay the deep bowl-shaped vale Murmenalda where the Humans were awaiting the first light of the Sun. The vale was lying behind a mountainous wall ( the Mountains of Wind.) In these mountains a narrow and dark passage lead ever winding down until the walls of the mountains dropped at each side and the valley sided by a ring of unbroken hills appeared. At the lower hills but above the buttom of the vale grew pinewoods and the sweet odour of flowers and of the Earth filled the air together with the pale song of nightingales.

Here in this vale did Nuin awake Ermon and Elmir before the first stroke of sunlight and here he tought them their first words of the Avari tongue.
