Varda is she who gives light, she knows all areas of Arda, and her beuaty is far beyond words. There is no one Melkor fears more than Varda becourse the light of Eru Iluvatar is still in her eyes. When Varda is with Manwë at Oiolosse she can hear all the sounds in Arda and it was Varda who brougt light into Arda and set the stars in the sky. Varda have many names, Tario Elentari, Tintalle and Elbereth in Elventongue, and they honnor her the most of all Valar. When The Halls of Manwë were built upon Taniquetil Varda spangled its roof with stars.

Valian Years ( V.Y.) 0 - 3450.

V.Y. 0 - 1500. Uncounted years filled with labouring had gone by in the timeless ages before the Gods decented into the world in year 0. But Melkor contested the overlordship of Manwë and strife were in the world. Manwë summoned help and among those who heard was Tulkas and he came to the aid. Before his face Melkor fleed out into Eä.

V.Y.1500 - 1900. Now Yavanna planted the seeds she had prepared for so long , the Gods settlet at Almaren and the world came to life. But the seeds needed light to grow and Yavanna went to Aulë her husbond and at her prayer he wrought two great lamps Ormal and Illuin to lit the earth. Those lamps were filled with light by Varda and hallowed by Manwë and were set in 1900 upon Helkar and Ringil. Trees and beasts swollened the earth and the Spring of Arda began.

V.Y. 1900 - 3450. But Melkor saw it from the outside of the Wall of Things and grew hot and he heard it from his spies ( Sauron the chiefest of them ) already among the Gods. Melkor called to him spirits and crept over the Wall of Things and entered Arda in the North and assailed the Lamps and overtrew them and the blossom of the earth was checked.

V.Y. 3450 - V.Y. 3500 The Gods departed to Aman where Aulë deemed the plains of Valinor a good place to build their new home. A great labour now began for the Gods. When Valinor was fullwrought and the mansions of the gods were established Yavanna and Nienna brought forth in the V.Y 3500 the two trees Telperion and Laurelin into being.

Now began the Valian Years of the Trees. ( V.Y.t ) and a new reckoning of time.

V.Y.t 0 - 1000 This was the Noontide of Valinor though Middle-earth was still in darkness and only Oromë and Yavanna came there at times and the stewardship of Middle-earth was partly neglected and Melkor ruled there with violence. The dew from Telperion and the water from Silpion Varda hoarded in great wats like shining lakes.

V.Y.t.1000 - 1050 At the prayer of Yavanna to the counsil of the gods,Varda went forth from the council and beheld the darkness of Middle-earth benieth the stars and then she began a great labour, greatest of all the works of the Valar since their coming into Arda. She began the second setting of stars for the awakening of the Elves. She took dew from the wats of Telperion and made new and brighter stars wherefore she whose name out of time was Tintallë was called after by the Elves; Elentári, Queen of the Stars. And as a challenge to Melkor she sat Valacirca in V.Y.t. 1050. Of other great stars she made Carnil, Luinil, Nénar, Lumbar, Alcarinque and Ellemmírë. Of great constalletions she made Wilwarin,Telumendil, Soronúmë, Anarríma, Menelmacar and Valacirca.

V.Y.t.1090 - 1092 Manwë took council in his heart and with Iluvathar and summoned the gods and declared to them his thoughts and the gods decided to capture Melkor.

V.Y.t. 1092 - 1100 The gods went to war and made Melkor captive and brought him to Valinor where he was doomed before the feet of Manwë to serve 3 ages in the fastness of Mandos.

V.Y.t. 1450 Hallowing of the Silmarils by Varda.

First Age.

The First age are counted from the rising of the Sun, this happened at the very same time as Fingolfin and his host arrived in Mithrim after the crossing of the Grinding ice.

Third Age.

Manwë summoned the Valar for a council at which it was resolved to send out three emissaries to Middle-Earth. Only two came forward; Curumo and Alatar. Manwë asked where Olòrin was and Olòrin asked what he wanted from him and Manwë told that he wished him to go as the third to Middle-Earth. Olòrin answered that he meant himself to weak for such a task and that he feared Sauron. Then Manwë said that that was all the more reason why he should go and he commanded him to go as the third but there Varda broke in and said "Not as the third".
