Harad.

The South.

The Near and Far Harad, South and South-East of Gondor and Harondor, South of Mordor and West of Khand. The Northern border of Harad was river Harnen and the South-Western Ephel Dúath. The border to Khand is unknown. In generally is Harad, Far Harad and Umbar called Haradwaith ( Sutherland.) and belongs to the landmass called the Hither Lands which is stretching far down below the equator of the world between Belegaer and the Inner Sea. In the Northern Near Harad below Ephel Dúath,West of Khand but East of Harnen is the Desert of Lostladen.

In Harad lived the human race called Southrons and Haradrims, people very much in likeness of the Western people but in alliance with Sauron. Of this people it is told that they are " a grim people who are not easily daunted by shade or blade "

In the Far Harad lived blackskinned men with white eyes and red tongues looking like half-trolls.
