In the North of the plateau were Isenmouthe and Carach Angren, along the inner side of Ephel Dúath ran Morgai from North to down below the Vale of Cirith Ungol. South of the plateau below the gap between the two arms came Núrn, Lithlad and the Sea of Nurnen. From Ered Lithlui a smaller spur were trusted into the plateau and upon this was build Barad-Dûr, some 30 Miles West of Barad-Dûr and 50 Miles South of Isenmouthe was Orodruin, the only known active vulcano

The plateau was a barren and desolate land with numerious fissures that pocked the landscape and skeletons, dikes and low mounds of old volcanoes that gave the area its rugged and evil appearance. In size the land was from Isenmouthe in North to the gap of Gorgoroth in South 160 Miles. From Ered Lithui in East to Ephel Dúath in West 225 Miles.
