Bridge of Stonebows.
Brandywine Bridge.
The Bridge of Stonebows were at the Great East Road where it crossed Baranduin from the Shire ( East-farthing ) to Buckland and the other realms of East Eriador. There were three great stonearches and it was on the eastern side of this bridge another gate besides the Hay-Gate were build when Pippin, Merry, Sam and Frodo returned from their adventure. The Bridge was build in the Third age when the power of the North Kingdom; Arnor, was at its heights. Presumably between the years 130 - 861. This was a period of relatively peace in the North, the Elves married and had children in Imladris ( Elves having children in times of war/unstable times was not common ) and it was first after 300 more years the Hobbits crossed the Hithaeglir because of the rising of evil in Mirkwood. After the Hobbits had obtained the land beyond the Bridge to the west in T.A.1601 granted to them by Argeleb II, all that was demanded was that they should keep the Bridge and all other bridges and roads in repair, acknowledge his Lordship and help his messengers. To the north and north-west were the Bridgefields and to the south were The Yale and Whitfurrows.
