Fornost.

Deadmans Dike.

Fornost the later capitol of the Dúnedains in Arthedain. As Annúminas was the capitol in the Kingdom of Arnor Fornost became it in Arthedain as the population dwindled in Annúminas throughout the strife and wars with Angmar, Rhudaur and Cardolan. In T.A.1974 is Fornost and Arthedain overunned by the forces of Angmar and the Whitchking. In the next year he is defeated by a united host from Lindon, Gondor, Imladris and the remaining Dúnedains but this was even so the end of the realm of Arthedain.

Fornost were lying in Eriador in the Southern end of the North Downs and here began the Old North Road running to the Greenway at the crossing with the Great East Road at Bree. The Greenway continued over the South-Downs and Barrow-Downs to Tharbad and the South Road. The Great East Road ran to Imladris. When the city was founded is unknown. but I think it might have been about the same time or shortly after Annúminas ( S.A 3320.)

The name Deadmans Dike was given to the place by the people of Bree who had forgotten its glory past and to them Deadmans Dike was a place were only beggars, robbers and thief's came.
