Sarn Ford.

The ford across Baranduin some 70 Miles South of the Old Forest and about 50 Miles South-East of the Shire along the road in the T.A. The road to Sarn Ford came from Waymeet at the Great East Road in the Shire over Sackville to Sarn Ford, and then some 70 Miles to the junktion with the Greenway, comming from the North. Sarn Ford had probably not an actual village but there might very well have been some quays and landings at the brink with some few cabins around. It is well known that Saruman used Sarn Ford for carrying tobacco out of the South-Shire. Besides this it could have been one of the places where the Dunadains in Arnor had easy acces to the sea from there Southern regions.

In the War between Elves and Sauron in the Second Age year 1700, Sauron lost a great battle at Sarn Ford after the arrival of the Numenorians and retracted to Tharbad where he had forces standing.
