Arnor.

The Northern Kingdom.

Arnor the realm of the Dúnedains. When it was at its biggest glory it covered all of Eriador except the countries East of river Hoarwell. After the fall of Númenor (S.A.3319), Elendil and his sons Isildur and Anarion came to Lindon where Gil-Galad and Cirdan had established the Grey-Havens. Here Elendil dwelt for a while before he passed East into Middle-Earth and established the Númenorians realm in exile: Arnor. His sons left Lindon by ship and sailed up the great river Anduin and established Gondor. In Arnor was Elendil the King and ruled from the city Annúminas. Arnor as a united Kingdom ceased to exist with the death of Eärendur in T.A.861 where it was split up in three minor kingdoms Arthedain, Rhudaur and Cardolan, ruled by Eärendur`s three sons Amlaith, Thorondur and Aldarion. The other large city in Arnor was Fornost. In Arnor was three of the Palantiri, the greatest in the tower Amun-Sul upon Weathertop in the Weatherhills, one in Annúminas and one in the Tower Hills facing towards the West.

During the time of peace in Arnor the Kings, eventually with the help of the Elves, build the roads and bridges running through the land, the Great East Road, the Old North Road, The Greenway, the Bridge of Stonebows and the Last Bridge. In the Southern regions of Arnor ( later Hobbit-country ) were the fields and farms reguired for food and it is possible if not sure that the Sarn Ford provided the Dúnedains with access to the sea as well as a fast connection with Annúminas and Gondor. Arnor and Gondor had an for long close connection with each other even there were about 1300 Miles between there respective capitols along the roads crossing over the Great Fens and Tharbad.
