Lòrien

Irmo.

Lòrien is the younger brother to Namo/Mandos. Sometimes you will hear him called by the name Irmo but Lòrien is his real name. He is a Fëanturi and so is his brother. Lòrien is the master of visions and of dreams. Lòrien also is the name of where he lives and that is the most lovely place in all of Arda. His gardens in the lands of the Gods are the fairest of all places in the world, they are filled with many spirits and those gardens comforts everyone who walks therein. His sister is Niënna and his vife is Estë. The Halls of Lòrien are called Murmuran and they are far away from Valmar though yet it is within Valinor. Murmuran was build in the south beneath the feet of the mountains of Valinor, the Pelori, upon the confines of the realm with the aid of Aulë. In the midmost of the gardens of Lòrien were set a ring of towering cypresses around the vat Silindrin. Here Lòrien, gazing upon its unstirred surface, saw many mysteries pass across. At the bidding of Manwë, Lòrien devised the Path of Dreams.

Though it is not precisely said, it might be thought that the Cottage of the Children were made in Lórien. It is told that the cottage was reached by walking the Path of Dreams and that it lay in the fairest garden of Arda.

Valian Years ( V.Y.) 0 - 3450.

V.Y 0 - 1900. Uncounted years filled with labouring had gone by in the timeless ages before the Gods descented into the world in year 0. Now the Gods planned and schemed and ordered, and for all the seeds Yavanna had planted, Aulë made two great lamps Ormal and Illuin to light the earth. These were set in 1900 upon Helkar and Ringil. Lòrien is not mentioned taking actions in these years but as the God of dreams and visions i believe he might have had a great part in it.

V.Y. 1900 - 3450. Now began the Spring of Arda. The Gods settled at Almaren and the world came to life. Trees and beasts swelled the earth, but Melkor saw it from the outside of the Wall of Things and grew hot with envy. He also heard from his spies of whom Sauron were the chiefest and already among the Gods. Melkor called to him spirits and they crept over the Wall and entered Arda in the North. He assailed the Lamps and overthrew them, and the blossom of the earth was checked.

V.Y.3450 - V.Y.dt 3500. The Gods now departed to Aman where Aulë deemed the plains of Valinor a good place to build their new home. A great labour now began for the Gods and in this work Aulë played a great part. Between V.Y.3450 - 3550 was Silindrin placed in the gardens of Lòrien. In the V.Y. 3500 came the two trees Silpion and Laurelin into being.

Now began the Valian Years of the Trees. ( V.Y.t ) and a new reckoning of time

V.Y.t 0 - 1000. This was the Noontide of Valinor though Middle-earth was still in darkness. Only Oromë and Yavanna came there at times, and the stewardship of Middle-earth was partly neglected. Melkor ruled Middle-earth with violence, save the times Oromë was hunting there. At the prayer of Yavanna the gods decided to capture Melkor and the gods went to war and made Melkor captive in the year1100 and he was brought to Valinor.

V.Y.t 1133. The Vanyar and Noldor Elves arrive at Aman.

V.Y.t 1219. Manwë unhappily granted the prayer of Mìriel. She went to Lòrien and laid herself down to sleep upon a bed of flowers, and there her body remains unwhithered in the care of the maidens of Estë.

V.Y.t 1400 - 1496. The Shadow began to grow in Valinor because of Melkor`s lies, and in 1490 the truth was discovered at a council and Fëanor was dispossessed. Melkor hid in Arvelin in 1490, gathering strength and plotting evil. In 1495 Manwë sought to heal the evil that had arisen in Valinor and he declared a great feast. But during the feast, Melkor returned with Ungoliant, killed Finwë and destroyed the two Trees. Then he escaped to Middle-earth.

( From the earliest tales ) In the Hiding of Valinor, upon which Manwë saw with sorrow he bidded Lórien and Oromë to device a way the Valar, the Elves and Human spirits in safety and secrecy could come to the blessed land and Lórien deviced Olórë Malle, the Path of Dreams.
